A quality education should be a reality for all youth, regardless of the neighborhood in which one lives.  Students can be self-empowered through knowledge on how to take their education into their own hands. 

Key factors in achieving a quality education for oneself includes Hard-work, Encouragement, Rigor and Dedication (H.E.R.D.©).  Our services empower youth to understand that by advancing their education they can expand their possibilities. Direct services that are provided to students include:

HABITS OF MY MIND©
Research suggests that it takes 21 days to develop or change a habit.  In a society that is constantly changing, the skillful ability to change ones thoughts, can change one’s life. This training session teaches students a 5-step process for how to develop habits to impact personal change for future growth in their academic career and personal lives.
Ya H.E.R.D©
Ya H.E.R.D© is an educational workshop training that introduces four key tenants for empowering “at risk” youth skills developing motivation from within.  Students have the opportunity to complete hands-on activities that will enable them to be self-empowered for success regardless of the neighborhood in which they have inherited.
THIS GAME CALLED LIFE©
This Game Called Life© Camp consists of four 6-hour sessions.  It is the ultimate workshop series for helping teens with the decision-making process about life.  This innovative workshop series consists of a pretend life learning experience.
  • Students will have an opportunity to move away from home and begin adult life.
  • Students will face bewildering options and challenges that adults face daily.
  • Students learn that there are bills to be paid, such as rent, electricity and insurance.
  • Student will decide where to live, what food to eat, which banks to use, and what places to shop.
  • Students will live the adult life on a budget!  A budget that is limited!
When students’ complete “This Game Called Life©” they will have an increased sense of job hunting skills, budgeting skills, banking skills, shopping and community living.  This Game Called Life© challenges youth to use their critical thinking skills, by giving them an opportunity to problem solve, make decisions and understand the importance of accepting responsibility for their decisions.  This Game Called Life© is presented by a Mind OVER Matter facilitator.  The program is interactive, hands-on, versatile and easy to adapt to your program needs.
