Back-to-School Teen Explosion: 07/27/12

On July 29th, 2011 The Mind OVER Matter Youth Development Institute sponsored the first Back-to-School Teen Explosion Conference for students ages 13-18 at the Holiday Inn Bordeaux Hotel & Conference Center. The Institute partnered with businesses, colleges and community agencies in the Sandhills region of North Carolina to sponsor the event, which encouraged teenagers to plan for a successful school year by providing critical skills needed for academic success. As a result of the feedback from local teens, the Teen X conference is back, so SAVE THE DATE-July 27, 2012.

The goal of Back-to-School Teen Explosion Conference is to…

Bridge the gap between local community businesses and youth to make school success and critical workforce development skills relevant to youth
Establish an annual Back-to-School learning event for youth in the Sandhills region of North Carolina that empowers youth to be successful in school
Empower teens to embrace personal school achievement and life beyond high school by linking teens to real life opportunities to meet local business owners
Build a research based community model based on feedback from teens, parents, community agencies, and businesses that meet the unique needs of youth in the Sandhills Region of NC

The participants will…

Gain knowledge on how to prepare for school and be successful
Understand through relevancy, the link between school and work-force development
Meet local business representatives to learn more about possible career opportunities
Complete a career assessment to be better able to focus exploration of potential career opportunities
Gain knowledge about how to prepare for life after high school

Registration Cost for Teen Explosion Conference

Individual Registration: $35.00 ($10 military discount)

Multiple Family Registration: $35.00 ($10 discount for each additional student)

Group Registration: $20.00 per student (minimum of 6)
